SCBA offers a strong representative program with tournament opportunities throughout the year and pathways for team success and individual excellence.
Summer Development Programme
Over the summer months we offer a high performance program to selected representative players. The format of the program may change from year to year, so watch our Facebook page or keep in touch with your coach for more info.
Representative Programme - 13&U, 15&U, 17&U, 19&U
All players are encouraged to attend our open trials for age group representative basketball teams. Trials are typically held early February (later in the year for 1&U3).
SC Rep Teams attend a series of local warm-up tournaments, building to the National Qualifiers tournament. From here if qualified, teams will attend the National Age Group Championship, or if not, a Mainland Zone Tournament (Nelson; Marlborough; North Canterbury; Canterbury; Mid Canterbury; South Canterbury; Buller; West Coast). Pinacle tournaments are typically held mid year for 15&U, 17&U, 19&U and term 3 holidays for 13&U. (Note there is no National tournament for 13&U).
Nationals Age Group Championships and Talent Programmes
Players are also eligible to be selected as loan players, to ensure the best players from each region have an opportunity to play at Nationals. From these championships, players are identified for National Talent Programmes and National Age Group Teams. Coaches can also directly refer talented players to the National Talent Program.
Tournament calendars from BBNZ can be found here.
